No Bells. No Whistles…Nothing That Loud Permitted at Friendly Meadows.
The lush, wooded terrain and natural elevation changes lend themselves to precision, target golf which means that the longer hitters don’t necessarily have the greatest advantage here. In fact, many Friendly Meadows holes challenge the mind and the player’s course management skills than his ability to hit it a mile!
In addition to the mind-challenging layout and the pastoral setting, Friendly Meadows offers some of the finest greens in the entire tri-state area. Though not particularly large or severely undulating, the greens at Friendly Meadows are known throughout area as the most consistent and best rolling greens around. Superintendent Chris Wheeler and his staff take pride in providing pristine conditions throughout the year.
When you come to play Friendly Meadows, you can expect to have a peaceful and relaxing golf experience, but also a challenging test of golf and shot-making. From the championship tees, Friendly Meadows stretches to 6620-yards with a slope of 129 and a rating of 72. Low-handicappers are guaranteed a challenge.
But the course plays to all levels, making it friendly even to the game’s newcomers. There are just enough bunkers to keep you on your toes and, with lakes and Clover Creek in play on 11 holes, enough water to offer plenty of challenge as well as more than enough natural beauty.
Also, when you come to Friendly Meadows, expect to be treated like family. After all, Friendly Meadows is family owned and operated. In fact, one of the owners, Steve Oberschlake, designed and built the back nine himself—now that’s a family business!
There is no alcohol sold on the course, but guests are welcome to bring their own. A six pack cooler with ice is provided on all golf carts. This helps maintain the quiet, peaceful, family feeling of Friendly Meadows.
Take advantage of the driving range and putting green before your round, or book a lesson with PGA Professional, Jack Merz. Friendly Meadows also offers club rental, club repair, a full-service pro shop and several different league opportunities.
If you’re looking for the perfect place to hold your informal outing or tournament, the pavilion at Friendly Meadows provides ample seating for up to 150. The pro shop staff will be happy to put you in touch with catering services appropriate to your event, or take advantage of the outdoor grills and picnic-style atmosphere of the pavilion.
Whether you’re coming to Friendly Meadows for the first time, or you’ve come to know us over the past 35 years, you can always rely on the family atmosphere, the friendly service and the feeling of absolute serenity that the staff and the natural landscape provide. |
